As part of Amsterdam Port Consultants, a port advisory foundation consisting of partners with strong ties to Amsterdam, Port of Amsterdam International, STC-Group International and Iskes Towage & Salvage executed an assessment of the marine operations in the port of Fujairah in 2015.
The port of Fujairah has seen tremendous growth in the past decades, turning from a regional multi-purpose port into an important part of the global oil supply chain, of which the port of Amsterdam is also an important link. With this new position, Port of Fujairah (PoF) decided it needed to revise its marine operations to bring it up to the level of a world class port.
The assessment focused on a wide range of areas, including subjects related to stakeholder management, organisational procedures, organisational structure, and safety & security. Port of Amsterdam International, STC-Group International and Iskes were also responsible for the implementation of the recommendations made. Three Port of Amsterdam International employees worked fulltime at PoF for seven months to ensure lasting improvements. At the same time, STC-Group International and Iskes set up specialised training programmes for PoF employees. Implementation was successfully completed in 2017. The collaboration was so successful that all parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2017 with a view on identifying ways to continue the partnership into the future.
Amongst the services provided were the following:
- Assessment of marine operations
- On the ground implementation of recommendations
- Stakeholder management
- Organisational procedures and structure
- Safety & security
